Cyber Security

Our Number 1 priority is keeping your business data safe

Cyber security attacks are on the rise and effects businesses of all sizes

If your business was hacked and sensitive information stolen, what would that do for your reputation?

Not only could this effect your business financially, it would also cause considerable down time and ruin your credibility. The good news is that safe guarding your business against cyber attacks needn’t be expensive or complicated, so long as your employ market leading IT security products combined with some end user education. Regular offsite backups are also an essential part of your cyber security toolkit.

Some of the IT Security areas we specialize in are:

Mail Security

E-mail Phishing and Spoofing, what does it all mean?

These are some of the methods cyber criminals employ in order to try and fool us into opening emails that are malicious in nature. They may appear to be genuine and from a reputable source, however they often contain links to malware that can infect our IT systems.

The best security is user education – knowing how to spot and detect malicious emails in the first instance. But with e-mail attacks becoming ever more sophisticated, being able to spot fake emails is becoming more difficult.

By using best in class security products such as Microsoft 365 Advanced threat Protection, malicious emails are intercepted and quarantined long before an end user has the chance to open them, eliminating the threat altogether.

Password Management

They’re the front door keys to all our personal data, yet people still leave their keys under the mat.

An average person has to remember over 50 passwords, so it’s no surprise that we tend to simplify and re-use the same passwords over and over – which is exactly what cyber criminals want you to do – making your computer easier to hack into!

The solution is simple and it’s called Password management systems. Not only save all our passwords into a secure digital vault, they also encourage us to use long and complex passwords that are infinitely more difficult to crack. Having secure passwords is the first step in our cyber defence strategy.

Network Security

Network Firewalls allow only legitimate network traffic to pass in and out of our business, while blocking everything else.

Fortinet network security appliances are regarded as one of the best in the industry, which is why we recommend their products and services for any business with on-premise servers.

With more people working remotely and offsite, cloud and software based firewalls are fast becoming an essential part of the IT security toolkit.

Device Protection

Windows 10 has come a long way in terms of security and reliability, however dedicated Anti-Virus products are still the recommended best practice to ensure you’re 100% protected.

There are dozens of anti-virus products on the market, however only a handful offer a level of protection suitable for business use. BitDefender continually ranks as one of the top security products in this space, which is why it’s installed as standard on all our client devices.

Backups

We hope we’ll never need them, as they’re our last line of defence, should we be hit by ransomware or disaster. This is why having multiply backups of your valuable business data is so vitally important. We also recommend that all clients back up their Office 365 email and document data to a seperate 3rd party service.
